Union Holds Picket Party Boycotting Campus Wide Holiday Party
New Jersey Strong news – Ewing, NJ: AFT reports 12.09.2019 – On December 9 th members of TCNJ AFT Local 2364 faculty, professional staff and librarians boycotted the College President’s campus wide holiday party and had a Picket Party instead. The union members braved the rain to protest their continuing lack of a contract. The bargaining unit has been without a contract since July 1 and the only negotiation planned for December will take place on December 13 th .
Holiday parties celebrate happiness and this year the members are unhappy about the contract situation. While the members refused to attend the party, they did donate toys and nonperishable food to the charities that the President collects for at her party so that the charities wouldn’t suffer from the boycott.
This protest follows the Statewide Day of Action that took place on November 20 th on the nine college campuses that bargain together. Following that action, the union and State reached a tentative agreement for adjunct faculty. TCNJ AFT Local 2364 hopes that the State hears Tuesday’s message and on the 13 th and comes ready to reach a tentative
agreement with the full time part of the unit.
