Two Linden men — city police Officer Frank Viggiano, and city resident, Joseph Rodriguez, both 28 — were killed, and a third man, Linden Officer Patrik Kudlac, 23, was critically injured when the car in which they were riding, driven by fellow off-duty Officer Pedro Abad, crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer as Abad was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the West Shore Expressway on March 20, 2015. Authorities have said Abad had a blood-alcohol level of .24, three times the legal limit, when the accident occurred.
